The Vancouver Island Mountain Sports Society is supported by these Mountain Clubs and club members help to make up the VIMSS Board of Directors.

Adaptive Snow Sports

The Vancouver Island Society for Adaptive Snow Sports focuses on providing nationally certified snowsports instruction to physically or mentally challenged persons. Instructors certified with the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing (CADS) help accent athletes’ abilities in a fun an encouraging environment.

Alpine Skiing

The Mount Washington Ski Club aims to provide a high quality and affordable competitive ski program that builds character and self-esteem in participants, recognizes different ski abilities and interests as part of the skill development process, encourages individuals to achieve their highest potential, recognizes the importance of a fun environment and develops and reinforces the importance of learning as a member of a team.

Freestyle Skiing

The Mount Washington Freestyle Club provides a fun and safe skiing experience for competent skiers six years old and up. Certified training in all freestyle disciplines will give skiers a well rounded set of skills. The aim of the programs is to provide skiers at each level with the necessary skills, (physical, mental and technical) to achieve their goals and dreams! Opportunities are provided for skiers to experience various levels of competition as well as to enjoy being able to go out and rip all over the mountain!

Nordic Skiing

The Strathcona Nordics is Vancouver Island’s Cross Country Ski Club with its activities based at Mount Washington. A not for profit society dedicated to skier development and the promotion of the sport of cross country skiing for fun, fitness, recreation and health, the club is also working to improve the infrastructure and facilities and for cross country skiers on Vancouver Island.

Snowboarding

VI Riders is a fully sanctioned freestyle oriented snowboard club with a primary goal to encourage progression in a fun and focused environment. Programs are designed around each rider’s specific goals.

Biathlon

The Vancouver Island Biathlon Club uses the Mount Washington biathlon range which has hosted international events and is surrounded by 55km of incredible Nordic trails.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking has returned to Mount Washington. The Mount Washington Bike Park offers lift-accessed mountain biking in the summer months.

Snow Tubing

If you are looking for some good old-fashioned snow sliding fun at Mount Washington make the trek to the Alpine Lodge and enjoy some family tubing. The Tube Park area is lift-accessed and located just behind the Alpine Lodge. No need to bring your own tubes ,we have you covered. Pass must be present and can be purchased at the ticket kiosk or Alpine Lodge.
